Call for Artists

Applications are now available for artists wishing to exhibit at the Horace Williams House (HWH) in Chapel Hill during the 2009 calendar year. To receive an application, contact the Preservation Society Office at 919-942-7818 during office hours (Tuesday to Friday 10am to 4 pm and Sunday 1 to 4 pm), email psch1858@mindspring.com, or the application form can be downloaded here. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, May 13, 2008 by 4 pm. We do not accept online submissions. Artists will receive notification of the results by the end of June 2008. The jury consists of the HWH Art Committee; members of the committee are professionally involved in the visual arts.

All artists, able to deliver and remove work from the HWH on a designated schedule, may submit applications to exhibit.

Artists must submit

a completed application form
résumé (including a history of exhibitions)
an artist’s statement
10 slides or 10 JPEG images on a CD. JPEGS should be 1280 x 1024 pixels at 72dpi. Slides and images should be of original work produced in the last two years represent the work and medium the artist wishes to exhibit.
$10 processing fee

The Preservation Society of Chapel Hill supports the visual arts at the Horace Williams House with an excellent program of exhibitions designed to promote contemporary fine arts and craft from across the state. Exhibitions change monthly and feature a variety of works by emerging and established artists. The Horace Williams House takes a modest 25% commission on sales of work from exhibitions. The historic house, located in the center of Chapel Hill, is open to the public as a community cultural center and features exhibits, concerts, and other special events.
