Baroque Music Concert: Deux Clavecins. French music for two double-manual harpsichord is featured, along with sparkling works for harpsichord, baroque violin, baroque flute, and viola da gamba. Duo-harpsicord dance music by Gaspard LeRoux will open the concert. The program includes a suite for flute and continuo by Philidor and the concert is rounded out by a Rameau trio and set of pieces (from sublime to boisterous) by Francis Couperin. Tickets $15 or season passes available.

Baroque Music Concert: The French Baroque. This study in contrasts pits dramatic arias against elegant instrumental music. Rameau's "Faithful Shepard" flirts with joy; while Monteclair's "Death of Dido" plumbs the depths of despair and revenge two wildly different cantatas, brought dramatically to life by sopranos Florence Peacock and Penelope Jensen. The instrumental forces include Brent Wissick, who is featured in a solo for viola da gamba. Additional baroque musicians round out the ensemble. Tickets $15.

The Road to Agate Hill: Fact and Fiction with Lee Smith and Ernest Dollar. The Civil War and the era afterward was the most turbulent chapter in American history. For Southerners, both black and white, their world was turned upside down. Grief and uncertainty reshaped the landscape and forever redefined the South. Author Lee Smith captures the essence of the "Late Unpleasantness" in her newest book, On Agate Hill. Seating is limited and tickets are $20 each.

Period Music Concert: Parisian Nights. In the early 1800s in Paris, opera music of Donizetti and Rossini was all the rage. Soon after a new opera was premiered, it was performed in parlors and salons in arrangements for smaller forces. Henri Brod and Eugene Jancourt, instrumentalists in the opera orchestras, were often first in line with these arrangements. They also composed original works. Fortepiano, oboe & bassoon. Tickets $15

Welcome to Chapel Hill President Polk Reenactment of President James K. Polk's 1847 arrival in Chapel Hill. Join us as we make history come alive. Enjoy costumed reenactors demonstrating domestic skills of the era, period children's games, music, and demonstrations of the 19th century photography. PSCH Preservation Awards and Potluck Dinner. The public is invited to help the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill celebrate National Preservation Month. The PSCH will recognize individuals and organizations who have helped preserve Chapel Hill�s architectural heritage. The event will also feature a showing, "After the Dust Settles," a documentary about preservations, teardowns, developers, neighborhoods, and the conflicts between them. Free. Click here for flier.

The Preservation Society of Chapel Hill and Friends of Bolin Creek will present a nature hike down the creek. David Otto and others will bring the history of the watershed to life. The tour begins at 10 a.m. and leaves from Wilson Park. The hike is free and open to the public.
